Position Overview
We are seeking a Part-Time Economics & Policy Analyst (Central Asia) to support our research agenda on regional economics, public policy, and socio-economic development. This is a remote, contract-based role suitable for candidates with strong analytical skills and in-depth understanding of Central Asian economies.
The analyst will contribute to research projects by drafting analytical briefs, commentary articles, and policy recommendations—or by supporting specific components of these deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct desk research, data analysis, and literature reviews on Central Asian economic and policy issues.
Draft high-quality analytical reports, policy briefs, commentary articles, or contribute to specific sections of larger projects.
Provide policy insights aligned with ongoing research themes such as trade, investment, industrial policy, public governance, regional cooperation, and social development.
Coordinate with project leads to ensure timely delivery of research outputs.
Present findings in clear, coherent, and professional English or Russian.
Required Qualifications
Strong proficiency in English, plus fluency in Russian or at least one Central Asian language (Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Turkmen).
Advanced understanding of Central Asian economic systems, regional policy issues, and socio-economic trends.
Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following sectors:
Research institutions or think tanks
Media organizations focused on economic/political analysis
Investment firms or economic consulting
Government departments involved in economic/industrial policy
NGOs or foundations working on economic or social development
Ability to produce clear, evidence-based written analysis in English or Russian.
Strong skills in qualitative or quantitative economic research.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree (completed or in progress) in Economics, Public Policy, International Relations, Area Studies, or related fields.
Experience working on Central Asia–related research projects.
Familiarity with statistical tools (Stata, R, Python) or policy analysis frameworks.
