About me
My name is Zhyldyz Zholdoshbekova.
One of the most honorable achievements of my life is earning my bachelor's degree in auditing and accounting. I was granted a full-time studying scholarship for excellent studying and participation in university life. In the light of the fact that the auditing faculty at KIMEP University is supposed to be the most challenging department to study, I have taken classes related not only to accounting but also to the business and economy. Besides, in a nutshell, I am FLEX alumni of 2015. In 2018 I did as a sophomore university student an exchange program at Stockholm School of Economics. In 2021 I passed the Sumner School Program at OSCE Academy and was invited to compete in my Master's program at the academy. Currently, I am taking the Leadership Program Global Village by Lehigh University which is sponsored by the USA department of State.
In addition to that, I am an active volunteer. In 2022 on the 30 of April in the American Corner in Bishkek, I organized the conference voluntarily. The mission of the project was to increase the level of financial literacy and the culture of financial behavior of the young generation. The goal of the project was to help girls from rural areas to get knowledge of international accounting policy which may attribute to their future career goals. The project audience was 20 girls aged 16 - 25 years old. All-day there was training for free that referred to accounting, auditing, marketing, and leadership themes. To organize this event, I collected data regarding social challenges in Kyrgyzstan. The issue was that the young generation does not receive the basics of finance and accounting fields. After the data was collected, I applied for Global Youth Day Scholarship by the US Department of State and American Councils to receive support to develop Kyrgyz women in society. Based on my papers, partner organizations such as Coca-Cola, Pro kg, and KIMEP University also decided to participate in this event. Thus, I have gained experience in the program organization field.
As for my professional background.
For a period of 2 years, I worked 2016-2017 as a program assistant in the education center named World of Education. I conducted administrative support to the students who were planning to apply for the language programs in the USA. I helped in the preparation of various program documents, such as work plans, budgets, reports, and proposals on program implementation arrangements. Besides, I taught English to students to pass English tests.
When I studied at KIMEP University, in 2018 I decided to combine my university studies with a part-time job. I had worked as a Peer Student Adviser in the Student Support Centre at KIMEP for 2 years. For this position, I was ought to counsel and assist those students who did not cope well with academic classes and could perform well. Mostly I assisted students with the General Education Requirements in the Academic Support Department. The classes were Academic English and Writing and Financial Accounting. I worked with 20-25 students per semester who had a low academic performance. I helped them to improve their level of English by explaining grammar and the way to write academic papers and preparing different types of homework which are required by TESOL holders (Professors). What I realized is that through my efforts, I provided hope to these students. I gave them a sense that we are all in this together and that when we help each other, it will also make things easier for ourselves. As a result, at my work, I had the best result in Fall 2019 helping a huge amount of students to increase their academic performance and get through the academic probation period. From this experience, I was inspired and realized that even in a community where everyone has equal opportunity, people face challenges to believe in themselves, reveal their talents, etc. In addition to that my duties were to organize different types of academic and non-academic events such as Orientation Days for freshman and their parents, Election, Graduation, Open Days, Nooryz, etc. at the university. Furthermore, I assisted students with the way to use the Academic Portal for signing up for classes, the way to choose classes, and answered the questions related to the administration or academic non-academic area regarding KIMEP.
Currently, I am employed as an Audit Associate in KPMG Central Asia Company, which is considered to be one of the Big Four auditing companies worldwide. I work every time with clients in different spheres from the financial sectors and commercial field. The skills I gained in auditing are:
1.Assist customers/clients with basic accounting practices.
2.Create financial statements using a prescribed format.
3.Maintain current information of tax issues and accounting statements.
4.Collect all documentation necessary for reporting and audits.
5.Identify any deficiencies within the auditing process
6.Proficient in computer applications used in the office.
7.Review company documentation to complete audits in a timely and proficient manner.
8.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9.Ability to complete work within a specified time frame.
10.Ability to research various types of company documents and budgets to identify necessary information for specific audits.
